RECAP: Port Louis Marina Rallies and Regattas 2025/26

The 2025/26 Caribbean high season has marked a resounding success for Port Louis Marina, with a dynamic calendar of international rallies, regattas and sailing events driving strong berth occupancy.

There is a vibrant shoreside scene and renewed global attention on Grenada as a premier yachting destination.

From the close of the transatlantic season to the height of Caribbean racing, Port Louis Marina has welcomed an impressive line-up of world-renowned events. The ARC+ rally concluded in Grenada with more than 80 yachts and over 400 crew arriving into Port Louis Marina following their Atlantic crossing, reinforcing the island’s role as a key landfall for bluewater sailors.

Momentum continued into early 2026 with the arrival of the Viking Explorers Rally, now in its ninth consecutive year visiting Grenada. Crews completing the 2,700-nautical-mile journey from the Canary Islands were formally welcomed at Port Louis Marina, highlighting both the technical capabilities of the facility and the island’s reputation for exceptional hospitality.

The rally season has been complemented by a full programme of regional sailing and sporting events. Grenada Sailing Week once again delivered competitive racing alongside a lively social calendar, drawing international participants and spectators to the island. Meanwhile, the annual Billfish Tournament added to the marina’s high-energy atmosphere, attracting sportfishing enthusiasts to Grenada’s rich offshore waters.

Further strengthening its global credentials, Port Louis Marina continues to serve as a key hub for the World ARC fleet as it circumnavigates the globe, as well as a preferred destination for a wide spectrum of cruising rallies and independent yachts seeking a secure and well-connected Caribbean base.

Beyond the headline events, it is the consistency of arrivals and the diversity of the visiting fleet that has defined this season. From first-time Atlantic crossers to seasoned superyacht captains, Port Louis Marina has become a focal point for community, celebration and technical support, with arrivals often marked by coordinated welcome ceremonies and social gatherings that reflect Grenada’s warm maritime culture.

This sustained activity underscores a broader trend: Grenada’s growing appeal as a discreet yet highly capable yachting destination. Unlike more congested Caribbean hotspots, the island continues to offer year-round secure berthing, modern marina infrastructure and easy cruising access to both the Windward and Leeward islands.

Industry stakeholders note that this balance of combining privacy, safety and authentic Caribbean character, is increasingly attractive to both yacht owners and charter operators seeking an alternative base and ‘home port’. With reliable hurricane-season positioning outside the main storm belt, alongside strong technical services and provisioning networks, Port Louis Marina is well placed to support yachts throughout the year.

As the high season draws to a close, forward bookings and rally interest remain strong, with demand for upcoming editions of major events already building. For Grenada and Port Louis Marina, the message is clear: the island’s reputation as the Caribbean’s ‘quiet achiever’ is evolving into one of its strongest competitive advantages and seemingly offering world-class experiences without the crowds.
